PEATC's Newest American Citizen

Roberto Quintero, PEATC Latino Information Specialist Becomes a US Citizen
Cherie Takemoto, Executive Director
Mar 01, 2010
Roberto Quintero has burst onto PEATC's Latino outreach scene with energy and passion. He wants to make sure that the children of the families we serve have every opportunity for success. Since January, Roberto has zipped all around Virginia sending a message that every child can be successful in this country -but our young people need the support of parents, schools and the community to make that happen.

On February 22, 2010, Roberto passed the citizenship exam. "It was a breeze!" he exuberantly exclaimed. They asked questions like, "How many Representatives are there in the US Congress?" Some things that many of us take for granted are coveted by immigrants to this country. The best thing about being a citizen according to Roberto is, "I can vote now!" Roberto is proud of his Colombian nationality, but is delighted to be a citizen of both the US and Colombia.

We, at PEATC, are also delighted to welcome Roberto as a newly-minted citizen of the US!
