Dear Parents/Guardians:

The on-line registration link for DBVI’s SUPER SUMMER CAMP (SSC) is now active! SSC is sponsored by the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired (DBVI). The purpose of SSC is to offer children who are blind, vision impaired, or deafblind an opportunity to have a summer camp experience, make new friends, practice independence, and develop self-confidence. The week long camp is residential and activities include sports, swimming, canoeing, fishing, hiking, archery, rock wall climbing, horseback riding, and arts and crafts. We also have 6 volunteer Jr. Counselor In Training (CIT) positions available for high school students who have attended Camp and are interested in being a mentor. SSC is held at the Camp Easterseals facility that is located in New Castle, VA near Roanoke. The camp staff includes Teachers of the Visually Impaired, O&M Instructors, Camp Easterseals staff, and a Nurse.  An Open House will be held the first day of camp, Sunday July 22 from 12:00 to 4:00, for families of future campers to visit and see what Super Summer Camp is all about so please spread the word!
