PEATC partners with Mexican Consulate to outreach Latino families in Manassas

May 07, 2010 On May 1st 2010, PEATC was invited to participate at Mexican Mobile Consulate and the Health and Services Day to outreach Latino families, in Manassas. This is an initiative lead by the Consular Section of the Mexican Embassy in Washington D.C. in collaboration with the Family Hispanic Institute for Blindness Prevention and the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Manassas.

PEATC was represented by Rosalía Fajardo and Patricia Ojeda, who shared resources on Special Education and Parent Involvement with Spanish speaking families. Around 400 people attended the fair, 300 of whom received consular services and about 160 were provided health services.

This partnership also allows PEATC to annually outreach several remote areas in Virginia. In the past, Rosalia Fajardo, PEATC's Director of Outreach, has traveled with the Mobile Consulate to Winchester, Harrisonburg, Virginia Beach. Eastern shore and Roanoke. Among the next planned visits, the Mobile Consulate will attend families in Roanoke on June 15, where PEATC is also going to participate.
