Jun 10, 2010 Are you and your school division having difficulty reaching agreement on what support your child needs in order to make educational progress? You have an option which does not trigger the costs or adversarial nature of a due process hearing. Mediation is a highly successful and more collaborative approach to resolving special education issues. Last year, we had 105 requests for mediation. Of those issues which were brought to the table, 83.9% were resolved. Any issue regarding a child’s eligibility for special education services or their provision, scope, or delivery may be mediated at any time.
