About our presenter:

As a Secondary Transition Specialist in the Division of Elementary, Secondary, and Specialized Education at the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), Ms. Naté Dearden provides training to DC educators on secondary transition policies and best practices, including trainings aimed at increasing student involvement and self-determination throughout the special education planning process. Ms. Dearden also leads the Secondary Transition Community of Practice, a group of community stakeholders who advocate for improved post-school outcomes for youth with disabilities. Ms. Dearden holds a BS in Family & Human Development from Utah State University and a JD from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School.
