PEATC training opportunity for Virginians involved in their Special Education Advisory Committees (SEAC)

Open to SEAC chairs, advisors, and members

The primary purposes of the local SEACs are to:

  • identify unmet needs relating to the education of students with disabilities within a local school division;
  • advise the local school division of these needs; and
  • assist the local school division in developing priorities, plans and strategies for meeting these needs.

A smoothly running SEAC helps parents and the school division improve student services and outcomes. Through careful consideration and clear, consistent communication, local SEACs are able to bring about positive change in services and outcomes for students with disabilities.

Please apply to join PEATC's SEAC Basic training by selecting ONE of the following dates/locations:

  • June 30: Glen Allen (ALMOST FULL)
  • July 7: Staunton
  • August 16: Woodbridge (ALMOST FULL)
  • August 30: Emporia


If you attended PEATC's 2015 SEAC training, you an invited to apply for our SEAC Advanced training (review By-laws, discuss recruitment strategies, review FOIA guidelines, and network with other SEACs) by selecting ONE of the following dates/locations:

  • July 13: Irvington
  • August 1: Roanoke
  • August 2: Wytheville
  • August 23: Chesapeake
