What is Families Engaging Families?
As part of our advocacy and family engagement initiative PEATC is proud to launch the Families Engaging Families monthly FREE networking calls for families throughout Virginia. Families Engaging Families will gather each month on a conference call with families throughout Virginia and share information and resources. PEATC staff will help parents understand the workings of early intervention and special education, providing clarity of complex systems.
What are the benefits of joining the calls?
Monthly families throughout Virginia will gain new techniques to strengthen their collaborative relationships with their child’s school. Not only is the monthly call FREE it is useful in keeping our families updated and informed. More importantly these interactive calls are designed to give families a chance to engage with other families regularly around the common goal to strengthen family engagement. Engaging the family engages the child and positively impacts our schools and communities.
Parents are not alone in rearing their children. Join other families and learn there is strength in numbers.

“This call will highlight the personal experiences of PEATC mom Heather and her family's journey over the past 12 years with a child on the Autism Spectrum. It will provide an opportunity for callers to share support in the form of a sympathetic ear and the power of families (and moms in particular) to be an important part of the "information dissemination" process! You can get a peek into life on the Spectrum on her blog: https://thelibrariansaysshush.wordpress.com”
