ACT WorkKeys Business Writing Assessment being Discontinued

ACT, a leading college admissions testing company, has informed the Virginia Department of Education that it will be discontinuing the ACT WorkKeys Business Writing assessment on June 1, 2017.

The ACT WorkKeys Business Writing is one of the Substitute Tests approved for awarding verified credit for the SOL 'End-of-Course Writing' Test.

This change was announced by the Virginia Department of Education's Superintendent of Public Instruction Steven R. Staples in his Superintendent’s Memo No. 222-16, dated September 9, 2016; please see the memo at: http://www.doe.virginia.gov/administrators/superintendents_memos/2016/222-16.shtml.

As permitted by the Standards for Accrediting Public Schools (8VAC20-131-110: http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?000+reg+8VAC20-131-110), the Virginia Board of Education has approved various “substitute” tests and set the minimum score that must be achieved for the purpose of awarding verified credit to students.
